If you’ve ever spent time in Japan, you’ll know the humble convenience store – or konbini, as they’re known colloquially – is at the heart of any given community.

They also stock absurdly delicious food, from packaged snacks through to freshly made delicacies, like the mouth-watering egg sandos, which genuinely deserve some kind of culinary award. Seriously, how can boiled eggs and bread taste so damn delicious?

The awkwardly named inKONBINI: One Store, Many Stories promises to tap into all of the above, delivering a slice-of-life simulation game with light management mechanics.

This game’s got much more going on than your usual viral work sim, though: you’ll be playing as a character, Makoto Hayakawa, who’s taking a break from her studios to help out her aunt. The game’s set during 1990s Japan, so its vibes are immaculate.

The VA-11 HALL-A-inspired visual novel storytelling will be offset by various minigames, which you’ll need to complete in order to actually, y’know, run the store. It looks like a nice blend of gameplay, branching dialogue, and cosy vibes.

Oh, and did we mention it finally has a date? You can look forward to playing this from 30th April, although we would have preferred 11th July or 7th November, depending on how you write your dates.
